Introduction,
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, full name Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, was an Indian scientist and politician who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, India, and passed away on July 27, 2015, in Shillong, Meghalaya, India. Kalam was known for his contributions to the field of aerospace engineering, his work on India’s civilian space program, and his role in the development of India’s first satellite launch vehicle.
Kalam was born into a humble family and had to support his family from an early age by selling newspapers. He went on to study physics and aerospace engineering, earning a degree from the Madras Institute of Technology. Kalam worked for the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), where he played a key role in the development of India’s ballistic missile program.
In 2002, Kalam was elected as the President of India, becoming the first scientist to hold office. During his presidency, he was known for his efforts to promote education and innovation, particularly among India’s youth. Kalam was widely respected for his humility, simplicity, and dedication to public service. He passed away while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong. His death was widely mourned in India and around the world, and he is remembered as a great visionary, scientist, and statesman.
