A.R. Rahman, born as A. S. Dileep Kumar, is a renowned Indian music composer, singer, and songwriter. He was born on January 6, 1967, in Chennai (formerly known as Madras), Tamil Nadu, India, into a Muslim family. Rahman began his musical journey at a young age and was exposed to various genres of music, including Indian classical, Western classical, and jazz.
Rahman started his career as a composer in the late 1980s, working on jingles and background scores for Indian television and movies. However, he shot to fame with his work on the soundtrack of the movie Roja (1992), which earned him critical acclaim and several awards.
